SUNDAY SCHOOL

The vision for the Junior Department at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church is this “To disciple our children to know God, to be able to hear His voice, learn to talk to Him, and worship Him from a young age.” Each Sunday morning we gather for an 15-20 min opening. During this we spend time singing, praying, reciting bible memory and having a small input. Our theme for the 2018-2019 school year is “Little Seeds become Mighty Trees.” We are answering questions together like “What do little seeds need in order to become mighty trees?” Seeds become trees, but not all trees become mighty. Why? What are characteristics that define a mighty tree? By comparing ourselves to seeds and trees, we are learning what it means for us to find our strength and faithfulness in God.

For the remainder of the hour we split into our classes.

Our curriculum is Answers in Genesis. It is a foundational curriculum that goes far deeper than just Bible stories while it moves through the Old Testament and New Testament – all the while sharing God’s deep love for us and pointing to Christ on the cross as evidence of this love.

BIBLE MEMORY

We have a Bible memory program and booklets for each student to take home. Our Bible Memory Coordinator is available to listen to memory work on Sunday mornings from 8:50-9am.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Children’s church meets on the first and third Sunday’s of each month, September through May, with the children being dismissed to come downstairs immediately following the “Worship in Song” time. This is for children ages 3-grade 5. The children all meet together to sing and watch a puppet show, after which the 3 and 4 year olds are dismissed for their own class time.

Our Children’s Church theme for this upcoming year is the “Fruit of the Spirit.” These Fruits of the Spirit are gifts that God helps us develop as we follow Jesus and learn to live Christian lives; lives that please him and help to show his love to others who might not yet know God. Jesus was the ultimate expression of God’s love, and all these qualities were modeled to us through Jesus’ life and example — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — these will become qualities IN US as we grow closer to Jesus.

Heavenly Father, thank you for gifting us with the Fruits of the Spirit. We ask you to help us grow each of these fruits in our lives and as we grow, help us share your love with others. Finally Lord, let us show the FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT in the various situations you put us in. We want to show others what your love looks like. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.”

Kids Camp

Every summer Elizabethtown Mennonite hosts a Kids Camp for three evenings in June. This year, 2018, the theme is Camp Shine Bright. Our focus will be on learning to shine bright for Jesus. We will learn how to do that by finding our confidence in Him and recognizing the power we have in His name.

Children ages Kindergarten to 5th grade and 6-8th grade are invited to come and enjoy 3 evenings of fun and learning about Jesus.
